Parole in Place for Spouses, Children and Parents of Active members of the U.S. Armed Forces, Individuals in the Selected Reserve or Veterans.
An individual who is the spouse, parent, or child of an active member or veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces is eligible to apply for a benefit known as parole in place. Per US CIS memorandum, absent a significant criminal conviction or other serious adverse factors, parole in place should be granted to such individual. Once parole in place is granted the applicant has one year to apply for permanent residence based on an immigrant visa petition by a U.S. citizen spouse, son, or daughter.
